My name is Marco Venegas, and I am an International Business major student with an emphasis in Latin America. I am currently a junior at San Diego State University and personally, my college experience seems to be a little bit different than those of other students. I would love to have more time to socialize just as my college friends do by being in fraternities and overall just being more involved in school's activities/events, however, I have had to sustain myself by having to work ever since I started my college career and I really have to improve on managing my time so that I can make time to enjoy myself a little bit.
I come from a very small Mexican town located about an hour away from San Diego, it is called Tecate, although you may have never heard about such town, I am pretty certain that most of you are familiar with the beer...

Tecate is the small town in which I resided for 17 years, and currently as a 20 year old, I still miss living with my parents as I did not have to worry about cooking, cleaning, doing the laundry, paying rent, paying for insurance nor any other kind of bill, but for the past two years, that has not been the case anymore. In addition to having to work, since Tecate is not too far away, I feel the need to go visit my parents at least twice a week as I am the youngest of three, and I know that it is difficult for my parents accepting the fact that I am now an independent person. Visiting them also takes a lot of my free time away as its not too close to my apartment, speaking of apartment, I live with three of my roommates and I see them as my second family they make me feel at home even though I am not around much.
I currently work as a jeweler in JCPenney at Plaza Bonita and although I do not love my job I am content with it as if allows me to understand sales techniques, and besides, I just have to interact with customers which most of the time is very interesting as they can get very personal. I would like to know how to manage my time more efficiently as I know of some students that work full time while being enrolled full time in school, and I work about 29 hours a week and I also am an intern at the National City Chamber of Commerce which I also dedicate around 10 hours a week. Although I do not really need to work that many hours, I am trying to save enough money so that in Spring 2018 semester I can focus mainly on school and not having to worry about any expenses for my last semester.
Something personal that I like is pretty much anything that can go fast, whether it be cars, motorcycles, jets, planes, etc, I love speed. Fun fact, about three years ago, I had a car accident and I have to admit that it was my fault, but it was raining and since I learn until I actually experience it, my car flipped and luckily no one was injured but my car was totaled, however, I learned my lesson and I do not speed when the road is wet. I still love speed and having that rush of adrenaline flow through my body. Moreover, lately I have been wanting to buy a street bike or getting a pilot license as recently a friend of mine gave me an introductory session on how to fly a jet and I realized that flying is something that I am very passionate about, hopefully my schedule allows me to begin reading the pilot's license manuals.
This semester I really hope I can raise my GPA, and I look forward to getting to know everyone in the class and even though I may seem quiet, I am a very friendly person, I am just quiet because English is my second language and some days are way more fluent than other days. This semester I will also become more involved in school activities because I know that I will only have this experience once, besides, time goes by so fast.
